John S. Parker, P.E.
John Parker founded EDSHyperspecs, LLC, in 1989 to bring precision to the generation and management of standards in the oil and gas industry. Using EDSHyperspecs as his platform, Mr. Parker pioneered the applicability of a systems approach to improve the benefits from specification systems. This work resulted in the development of a framework of best practices that can be used to manage standards generation and improvement. The framework is similar to operating management system frameworks and capital expenditure frameworks now used throughout the industry. Mr. Parker also consulted on the preparation of incident reports and performed audits of industry practice systems.
Mr. Parker is an innovator in the use of combined editing/engineering teams to increase the value of engineering standards by improving organization, logic, and clarity. Under his leadership, EDS has provided its expertise and knowledge to most of the leading companies in the industry.
“At EDS-Hyperspecs, we have the tools to analyze deficiencies in existing client standards and the resources to provide all client needs for standards development and management.”
Mr. Parker’s 45 years of oil and gas industry experience includes positions as a structural engineer on a variety of international projects for industry giant Brown & Root. His initial experience as a structural engineer included design of offshore platforms in the North Sea, Malaysia, Gulf of Mexico, and Santa Barbara Channel. His management experience includes supervision of multidisciplinary teams of engineers and naval architects.

Warren Fawcett
Warren Fawcett has nearly 40 years of technical communications experience. He has spent the past 23 years performing a variety of tasks for EDS-Hyperspecs, LLC, where he currently serves as Technical Editing Manager, overseeing a team of editing professionals on large specification projects. Mr. Fawcett’s specific responsibilities include strategic planning, resource allocation, training, quality control and direct communication with client engineers and management. Additionally, he has developed editorial standards, project specific control documents, summary of changes documents, training documents and a form for easily auditing specification compliance by vendors. Under Mr. Fawcett’s direction, EDS has edited and delivered thousands of documents, including narrative specifications, exceptions specifications, datasheets and forms. The documents produced by Mr. Fawcett’s team have been well received by EDS’ clients and have generated numerous positive comments for their ease of use and clarity.
“Good editing adds value to and significantly clarifies or improves content without altering the technical meaning.”
Mr. Fawcett’s technical communication career began with industry giant Brown & Root, where he wrote, edited, and coordinated distribution of numerous specifications, proposals, qualifications statements, and project support documents. His career also includes five years at a utility management company, where he wrote operations manuals, proposals, and contracts, and five years at a digital mapping/information management company writing and designing computer documentation.
