Transforming Standards Development

Framework

Standards improvement involve a wide range of disciplines and personnel with varying skills in the development of written documents. To bring uniformity to the standards improvement process, EDS has developed a framework that allows management to control the improvement process.

The variables can be grouped into management, systems, technical requirements, and documentation.

Management

Management framework provides topics that address organization and resource allocation. This ensures clear objectives, appropriate resources, and that all client personnel understand the scope and objectives of a standards improvement project.

Systems

Systems framework addresses document types and numbering systems for the improved system. EDS numbering systems are logical, robust, and flexible. Our numbering systems make specific documents easy to understand and use. This reduces maintenance and improves use of the system on projects.

Technical Requirements

Technical requirements framework addresses topics appropriate for the many subject matter experts that will contribute to the standards improvement project. This provides a common set of rules and is fundamental to meeting standards improvement. This framework item ensures that subject matter experts keep content only in alignment with system objectives.

Documentation

Documentation framework topics address formatting and editing rules for the improved standards. EDS have developed optimized formatting and editing standards specifically for company standards for facilities development. Use of EDS standards speeds document development, provides a uniform system, and maximizes comprehension.

The review was positive and we would like you to continue with the format you have suggested for the rest of the documents. The format and changes suggested were seen as a good step forward and essential in framing the documents so that overlaps and redundancies among documents becomes apparent.

The document edited by EDS-Hyperspecs is so clear it can be reviewed and updated in a day rather than in the week that it used to take.
